Hello Year 2,
I hope you all had a good halfterm. I’m looking forward to seeing you at our Year 2 Zoom meeting today at 10.30. Make sure you are there-your grown up has the information in an email. Be ready with a pencil and piece of paper. We will be starting a poetry unit in English and recapping fractions in Maths.
Below you will find your home learning tasks for today. Once you have completed them, you can send them to me using the Year 2 Blogs on Purple Mash.
To find the blogs go to Purple Mash and click on the green globe icon at the top that says sharing. When you click on that you will see a tab called Shared Blogs. Click on that and then you will see 3 blogs-one for English, one for Maths and one for Topic.
When you are in the blog, click on the green box with the + sign. This will give you a post to type into with title box, summary and content sections.
You can type answers into the content section or you can take a photo of your work and attach it using the icon that looks like a picture with a paper clip. I will then be able to see all of your wonderful learning. You can also ask me questions if you are unsure about any of your work. Remember to save!

Work out these halves-some of them are as sums so you have to work out each side first. Look carefully to see if it is + or - .
E.g. Half of 8 – Half of 2 will be
Half of 8=4
Half of 2=1
So
4-1=3
Remember to partition 2 digit numbers to help you halve them.
E.g. Half of 26
26=20 + 6
Half of 20 is 10
Half of 6 is 3
10+3=13
Half of 26=13

Today we are going to be visiting Asia. We are going to look at the animals that can be found there. Today we will be focusing on Asian elephants. We will see a picture of an elephant decorated for the Elephant Festival in Jaipur. You are going to have a chance to create your own highly decorated elephant!
