Week Beginning 25th January 2021

Monday 25th January

Good morning Year Three. Wasn’t the snow pretty yesterday? Did you go out and play in it? I’m looking forward to seeing you all for our Zoom session at 11:30. We’re going to be doing some maths fluency together this morning. Have a lovely day and work hard.

Reading

Lexia (teacher's email: lexia@holdbrook.herts.sch.uk) for 20 minutes and then read today's story and answer the question by replying to the blog post. You can also read a book, preferably to an adult.

Writing

Write a description of yesterday's snowy scenes. Did you go out? How did the snow feel? What did it look like? What sound did it make when you walked through it? From tomorrow we will be doing something different.

Handwriting

Use your best joined handwriting to practise these words from the Must Know list - island  knowledge  learn  length  library

Spelling

Use this morning's handwriting words to practise spelling to build each word by adding one letter at a time.

Maths

Complete lesson 15 of the Addition & Subtraction unit. Your written work can be done on paper or as a reply to the blog post.

Maths Fluency

This week we’re learning the 4 times table. You already know at least five of them – 0x4, 1x4, 2x4, 5x4 and 10x4. Remember to do 15 minutes TTRockstars and 15 minutes of Numbots.

Computing

There are three coding activities in our 2Dos – Turtle, Haunted Scene and Guard The Castle. They are slightly more challenging that last week’s, so make sure you’ve completed those first.

Remember to check your Purple Mash 2Dos and watch the CBBC morning education programmes. Let me know which ones you like best.

There will be Dojo points available for completing tasks. To show me that you've completed a task, you need to post your answer as a reply to the blog or post a photo of any written work.

Tuesday 26th January

Good morning! It was lovely to see you all on yesterday’s Zoom, but you must remember the Zoom rules, including the one about sitting still. I’ve re-arranged the way that we are doing English. From today, we will be learning like we do in class. I have given you a starting point for three Inspiration Stations and some example sentences. You can write your own which will give you a fantastic paragraph about The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark. I’m also changing the blog slightly. There will be three different sections for you to post your learning under – English, Maths and Topic. I’ll talk you through all this when we Zoom.

Wednesday 27th January

Hello everyone! Five of you have already done more than 60 minutes of Lexia this week and it’s only Wednesday morning – well done! Did you see Bitesize yesterday? If not click here. There’s some great stuff about fossils. Not everyone has posted all their learning. You need to work for at least three hours every day. You need to do all the learning that is listed each day, not just some of it. I’m really looking forward to reading today’s writing and seeing all those inverted commas being used correctly. See you at 11:30 for Zoom!

Good morning Year 3! I’m so glad that the weather is warming up today. I didn’t like going out for my daily exercise in the cold with all that slippery ice about. I’ve used three contractions already, but am still nowhere near the 70 that exist. How about you? I’m glad to say that more of you completed your written work yesterday, but some of you still haven’t done it. Come on – three hours each day!

I’m really impressed with the quality of you writing – great vocabulary choices and accurate punctuation from just about everybody. Well done! There are still some of you have need to catch up with this though. More people than ever before identified our daily blog icon (Jupiter) and there were loads of responses to the story, identifying puns.
