Hello Year 2,

Happy New Year! I am so sorry that we are not able to be in school at the moment however we can keep in touch through this website and on Purple Mash!

Below you will find your home learning tasks for today. Once you have completed them, you can send them to me using the Year 2 Blogs on Purple Mash.

To find the blogs go to Purple Mash and click on the green globe icon at the top that says sharing. When you click on that you will see a tab called Shared Blogs. Click on that and then you will see 3 blogs-one for English, one for Maths and one for Topic.

When you are in the blog, click on the green box with the + sign. This will give you a post to type into with title box, summary and content sections.

You can type answers into the content section or you can take a photo of your work and attach it using the icon that looks like a picture with a paper clip. I will then be able to see all of your wonderful learning. You can also ask me questions if you are unsure about any of your work. Remember to save!

Computing

Please log in to Purple Mash and check your ‘To Dos’. Here you will find a coding to do called Air traffic control to complete.

Music

Please log in to Purple Mash and check you ‘To Dos’. Here you will find a music making programme called 2Sequence. Follow these instructions.

  1. Select the bells and chimes from the bottom of the

screen.

  1. Using the bells and chimes, drag each instrument onto a bar.
  2. Run the sequence by clicking on the big green for ‘go’ arrow at the

top of the screen. Notice how each bar is highlighted as the tune is played.

  1. Slow down and speed up the tune by using the bpm (beats per

minute) slider.

  1. Which tune did you like the best: the fast one or the slow one?
  2. Set the bpm back to the centre (about 140) and drag any 4 instruments from the bar and into the bin, leaving empty spaces.
  3. Now play the tune again; what does it sound like? Now speed it up and slow it down again. What does it sound like this time?
  4. Have a try creating a tune for yourself.
  5. Now select another set of instruments from the bottom of the page. Select the drums.
  6. Add more instruments and sounds to the bars and start to add

different sounds to the tune you have just created.

  1. What does your tune sound like now? Try speeding it up and slowing it down. Which tune did you like the best?
  2. Save it to your My Work folder.

If you are unable to access the Purple Mash activities for Computing and Music you can write a rap about Winter in a similar style to our Santa rap before Christmas. You could also write a set of instructions to move a toy or a person in a certain shape or direction-for example how would you make a person walk in a square? Use words like forwards/backwards and left/right.
