Happy New Year! I am so sorry that we are not able to be in school at the moment but the good news is that we can keep in touch through this website and on Purple Mash! Tomorrow (Wednesday 6th January), we are going to try a Year 4 Zoom call! So make sure you have the link and password ready for our meeting at 10:30 am.
Below you will find your home learning tasks for today. Once you have completed them, you can send them to me using the Year 4 Blogs on Purple Mash.

English:
Reading: Make sure that you are reading for at least 30 minutes a day and that you are completing your Lexia minutes. There is a story for you to be reading as one of your Purple Mash 2dos!
Spelling: To practise and apply knowledge of suffixes: -ous
Watch the video and pause it as necessary, when you are asked to complete a task (complete the tasks in your home learning book). If you are unable to access this lesson, use the your reading journals to practise the year 3 and 4 common exception words. Write these in your home learning books.
There is a further English task set as a 2Do on Purple Mash.

It really is such a shame that we can't be in school at the moment as I was so looking forward to seeing you all and starting our new topics for this term however, we can still keep in touch through our Purple Mash Blog and daily Zoom calls. Make sure you all have the link and password ready for our meeting at 10:30am every day - this link and password will be the same every morning so don't worry about being sent another one.
Below are the tasks that I would like you to try today. Remember to share your completed work on the class blogs so that I can see how you are getting on and give you some feedback.

Make sure that you are reading your book of choice for at least 30 minutes and then briefly summarise what you have read. Remember those reading stems! You also need to be completing your Lexia minutes to ensure you reach your target.

Following on from your river poems that we wrote before Christmas, you now have a chance to perform a poem! I may even ask for some brave volunteers to perform during our zoom call tomorrow!

Select Year 4, select harder words from the tabs on the left hand side of the screen and then you should see a word list. Click on your word of choice and then press play to watch the animation. Please write this word at least 5 times exactly as you see it on your screen. Please practice 3 words a day. Why not try and write 3 sentences including your words of choice - in your neatest handwriting of course!
Fluency
Keep using TTRockstars and NumBots- the link is on the home learning page if you need it.
I will also be setting you some fun maths games on Purple Mash for you to complete.
