Week Beginning 8th February 2021

Home Learning -Monday 8th February

Happy Monday Reception, I hope you have had a lovely restful weekend. Now let's start a brand new week of home learning!

Before we start writing let's warm up our hands and fingers using our play dough
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9D5lfqZF3o

Phonics:
This week we are going to be focussing on writing our sounds correctly. Everyday I will upload a new video showing you how to write each sound. Make sure you practice these in your books.
As always I would like you to practice your speed sounds everyday using my videos, the phonics play website or your flashcards from your home learning packs.
Today I have also uploaded a new word time lesson for you to have a go at, remember you will need something to write on and with.

Maths:
This week in maths we will be moving on to learn about the numbers 9 and 10.
Continue with the white rose daily maths videos. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/building-9-10-week-1/
To support you learning here are some activities for you to have a go:

999 is a very important number. It is the number of the emergency services, such as police, fire and ambulance. Draw a poster to tell people about this important number. You could write the number and draw a picture of some police officers, fire fighters or paramedics.

Have a look at a clock, can you see the number 9? What numbers is it next to? On a school day, what happens near 9 o’clock in the morning?

Topic:
Today we are going to be thinking about Dentists and how they help us. Dentists are like doctors who check in your mouth and your teeth.
Have you ever been to the Dentist?
Discuss with your grown up what happens at the dentist?
Here you can see Topsy and Tim visiting the Dentist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJMIxeQWlHU

Now I want you to think about how we can look after our teeth, complete the brush your teeth lesson from the Oak National Acadmey
https://teachers.thenational.academy/lessons/brush-your-teeth-65j66d?from_query=dentist

Can you create a poster showing what we should do to look after our teeth? What foods and drinks are good for our teeth and what is bad for our teeth?
How long should we brush our teeth for? How many times a day?

In support of children's mental health week let's express ourselves!  "By encouraging your children to express themselves, you can ward off some negative issues and help your kids build self-confidence, independence, creativity, and self-advocacy. Fostering self-expression will set your children up for success."
One way to express ourselves is through our clothes, today I want you to wear your favourite colour! How does this make you feel? Do you feel happy with your choice?
