  • School Closure January 2021

    Thu 31 Dec 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Urgent Update – School Closure January 2021

As I am sure you are all aware the Government made an announcement yesterday that some primary schools in ‘Covid Hotspots’ will not open as planned in January.  It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Holdbrook Primary School and Nursery falls under the Broxbourne District and is therefore one of the schools that has been told to close for at least 2 weeks.

The Government have asked us to make provision for children whose parents are critical workers and are unable to work from home.  We have also been asked to provide support for children who are deemed vulnerable or have specific special educational needs.

With the weekend fast approaching and the school holidays drawing to a close, I ask you to email the school admin address admin@holdbrook.herts.sch.uk to let me know if you think you qualify as a critical worker as soon as possible.

Please state your child/children’s name and explain why you think you qualify for a space in this provision.

E.g.  Jo Blogs – I work as a nurse and am unable to work from home.

Once I have all of this information I can make the final arrangements ready for children to start attending on Tuesday 5th January 2021.

For those children who qualify as a vulnerable pupil, you will receive a phone call on Monday 4th January 2021 when the staff officially return to work after the school holidays.

All other children are expected to complete their school work from home.  This is not an extension of the school holidays.  My staff will set work for the children to complete via Tapestry (Reception and Nursery) or via the school website and purple mash (Years 1 to 6.)  We have already sent home the ‘just in case’ home learning packs which your child should start using from Tuesday 5th January and we will be uploading work daily on the class pages section of the website.

I will send more information regarding FSM in the New Year.  For now, please continue to follow the Government and Public Health England advice and use this opportunity to do all you can to slow the spread of this awful virus. Stay at home, avoid public places, if you are unwell do not leave your house – even to get groceries - and remain meticulous in your hand washing. If any of our families are struggling financially or emotionally I urge you to remain in close contact with me and the school will endeavour to support you in any way we possibly can.

I wish you all good health.

    Kind Regards,

    Charlotte Angeli

    Headteacher
